Generally you are expected to leave your key at the hotel desk when you leave your room but also when you get to your room all things electrical depend on you putting your room key into a slot by the door. The room key in the slot completes the electrical circuit to turn everything on. That includes the air conditioner, lights, TV, fridge, etc. It is the ultimate green technology. No leaving the lights or A/C on when you leave. Also you have to beware of things you leave in the refrigerator.
